That sets up what should be another thrill- ing Region 7C Tournament in 2023 as eight teams vy for four spots in the Class C State Tour- nament. The Watertown Red Devils come into the Region 7C Tour- nament for the second year in a row. The Red Devils won the CRVL North title on the final day of the regular season in a thrilling 2-1 win in 12 in- nings over the Waconia Lakers. Should the Red Devils secure a spot at the state tournament for the fourth year in a row, they’ll be looking to make history with another deep postseason run. Watertown has reached the Class C semifinals in the past two seasons. Since the Min- nesota Baseball Association went to this format, no team has made the semifinals three times in a row. The Plato Bluejays are the No. 2 seed in the Region 7C Tournament this year. After breaking the curse of the No. 2 seed last year, the Bluejays are looking to make back-to-back state tournament appearances. The Bluejays won the CRVL South title and feature one of the top pitching staffs in the league as they look to make an- other postseason run. Coming in as the No. 3 seed are the Waconia Lakers. Waconia finished in second place in the CRVL North standings just one game behind Watertown. The Lakers have been a Top 10 team in Class C for much of the season and fea- ture a talented and experienced lineup once again as they look to secure another state tourna- ment appearance. The Lakers are the only team to reach the Region 7C Tournament every year since 2014.
