BY BEN ERNHART Delano Herald Journal Editor Lifelong friends Fran Stein and Lowell McKin- ley are now working out of Stein’s Barber Shop on Bridge Avenue, in Delano. McKinley, a Delano resident, has been barbering since he nished barber school in 1965. Stein has been a barber since 1967. Stein and McKinley have known each other since 1966, and the two have 112 years of experience, but this will be the rst time the two men have worked together. McKinley said he knew he wanted to be a barber when he was about 18, and worked a few odd jobs to save up to attend Lee Barber School in St.Paul. “You had to wait to get into barber school back in those days,” said McKinley. “So right out of high school, I just worked various jobs until school opened up, and this is all I’ve ever done since.” Annandale | Bu alo | Cokato | Darwin | Dassel | Delano | Glencoe | Howard Lake | Hutchinson | Kimball | Lester Prairie Litch eld | Loretto | Maple Lake | Maple Plain | Mayer | Montrose | Mound | New Germany | Norwood Young America Rockford | Silver Lake | South Haven | St. Bonifacius | Waconia | Watertown | Waverly | Winsted Senior Con n e c t ion s is distributed to: Nov./Dec. 2022 VOLUME 4 | NO. 6 Senior Con n e ct ion s HJ.COM PHOTO BY BEN ERNHART Lowell McKinley is shaking hands with Fran Stein outside of Stein’s Barber Shop.
