KIP KOVAR Herald Journal Sports Editor WACONIA – Sunday was a special day in Waconia for many reasons. Deemed Baseball Day, the Waconia Baseball Asso- ciation took the time to honor one of their hardest working people behind the scenes. For all his hard work and dedication to Waconia baseball over the year, Mike Bullis was inducted into the WBA Hall of Fame. Bullis has been involved with the Waconia Baseball Association since its in- ception in 1994. He has coached 34 years of baseball, from youth, little league, high school, and amateur baseball. Mike’s in- volvement with baseball in Waconia is ex- ceptional. He has been involved in coach- ing, planning, fundraising, volunteering, and even a brief stint as a player on the over 35 team. When the Waconia Baseball Associa- tion started and they wanted to build a new field, Mike was instrumental in helping fundraise and plan Lions Field. Mike, a father of six kids, has had three kids play for the Waconia Lakers, Mike coached the Waconia Lakers in 2011 and 2012. In 2011, the Waconia Lakers went from the River Valley League to the Crow River Valley League,. In 2011, Mike and the Lakers finished in second place at the amateur state baseball tournament. Mike and his wife Linda moved out to Waconia in 1990 from the twin cities. Mike has been an avid sports fan and base- ball pioneer in Waconia since the time he moved. Mike and Linda have raised 6 boys in Waconia. Mike is the 10th member of the Waconia Baseball Association Hall of Fame.
